Why the badge matters
Same shingles. Completely different paper.
Anyone can buy GAF Timberline. Only a Master Elite contractor — roughly the top 2–3% nationally — can register Golden Pledge®. That is the difference between a 10-year manufacturing period with no GAF workmanship, and 50 years of non-prorated manufacturing plus 25–30 years of workmanship on GAF’s paper.
Precision Roofing & Exteriors is GAF Master Elite. We spec a full GAF system — shingles, starter, ridge, leak barrier, deck protection, Cobra® ventilation — so the roof actually qualifies. Then we register it.

The GAF system we actually install
Golden Pledge is a system warranty. Shingles alone do not qualify. These are the pieces we spec on a Tampa Bay GAF roof.
GAF Lifetime shingles
Timberline HDZ®, UHDZ®, and Designer Lifetime in the field. LayerLock® shingles with four qualifying GAF accessories can carry WindProven — no maximum wind speed on the shingle wind warranty.
Starter strip & ridge cap
GAF starter at eaves and rakes. Matching ridge cap. These are system accessories, not leftover field shingles bent over the hip.
Cobra® attic ventilation
Ridge exhaust that pairs with soffit intake. Cobra is a Golden Pledge system accessory — and the reason we can honestly say the attic is vented. Inadequate ventilation is excluded from every GAF warranty.
Leak barrier & deck protection
Self-adhered leak barrier in valleys, eaves, and penetrations. Synthetic deck protection over the rest of the field. Both are GAF accessories that turn a shingle job into a system job.
WindProven™ path
LayerLock shingles with four qualifying GAF accessories can carry WindProven — no maximum wind speed on the shingle wind warranty. Qualifying combo: ridge cap, starter, deck protection, plus leak barrier or attic ventilation.
Registration
We file Golden Pledge with GAF within 45 days of install. The warranty is not in effect until it is registered and the contractor has been paid in full.
Read this before you count on the warranty
Inadequate ventilation is not covered
GAF’s Golden Pledge, Silver Pledge, and the base Shingle & Accessory warranty all say the same thing: damage from inadequate ventilation is excluded. Failure to install adequate ventilation is not an “application error.” A Florida attic that cannot breathe will cook the deck, and GAF will not pay for that.
That is why every GAF system roof we install gets soffit intake, baffles, and ridge exhaust — usually Cobra®. Insulation without a clear path is how warranties die in year eight.
- Hail, fire, and other acts of nature are excluded. We do not invent hail coverage.
- We do not waive insurance deductibles.
- Wind: 130 mph with special installation, or WindProven (no max) with LayerLock + four qualifying accessories.
- Lifetime applies to original owners of single-family detached homes. Other buildings: 40 years on Golden Pledge.
- Notice to us is not notice to GAF. Claims go to GAF within 30 days of spotting a problem.
- Warranty is not in effect until it is registered and the contractor has been paid in full.

What is Golden Pledge?+
GAF’s strongest residential limited warranty. Only Master Elite contractors can register it. 50-year non-prorated Smart Choice manufacturing coverage on a qualifying GAF system, plus 25 years of workmanship (30 on Timberline UHDZ® and Designer Lifetime), with GAF backing after year two. Tear-off and disposal included on covered claims.
Is inadequate ventilation covered?+
No. GAF’s Golden Pledge, Silver Pledge, and the base Shingle & Accessory warranty all exclude damage from inadequate ventilation. Failure to install adequate ventilation is not treated as an application error. That is why we spec soffit-to-ridge venting and baffles on every GAF system roof.
Does Golden Pledge cover hail?+

What is a GAF system?+
Golden Pledge covers a GAF system: Lifetime shingles, ridge cap, starter strip, leak barrier, roof-deck protection, Cobra® ventilation, and qualifying Master Flow™ vents. Powered-vent motors have a shorter term. Non-GAF flashings, metalwork, and gutters are not GAF products.
Who can offer Golden Pledge?+
Only GAF Master Elite contractors. Precision Roofing & Exteriors is Master Elite. Certified Plus can offer System Plus; non-certified installers are on the base Shingle & Accessory warranty.
Is Lifetime 50 calendar years?+
Lifetime means as long as the original owner of a single-family detached home owns the property (or a second owner if transferred in the first 20 years). Other building types: 40 years on Golden Pledge.
